I just finished reading an article that I found to be quite interesting since I'm just finishing the SAR (Search & Rescue) Acadamy. I know it's not country but there are alot of people on this board who enjoy the "uncivilized" areas so I thought I'd share. It's quite long but well worth the reading.

Jack London's story, "To Build A Fire", is a artful discourse on how to die like a fool in the wilderness.

Well, when it comes down to it, people who get lost screwed up - somehow. Still need help.

Sammy, I'm not the type to get lost in the first place, but I know how important it is to maintain. Panic and excitement makes us vulnerable and can be dangerous.

I just thought I'd share. Maybe I'm the only one who found it that interesting!! lol As I said, I joined SAR when I moved here and since I got lost in an orchard of all places and had alot of time to think about others who get lost while I tried to find my way out, it's easier to get lost than people think. Most of the searches are for hunters, campers, snowboarders, hikers but there have also been searches for people who just went to the mountains to pick berries or mushrooms or hunters who went out and got into trouble they couldn't handle. I know my neighbors go hunting and figured there might be someone here who would like to read this article.
