I haven't heard anyone say if the sap is running yet; but w/ the weathher we've been having I 'd guess anytime now. The fella who does our trees puts out about 400 taps on a gravity system at our house, but have not seen him yet this year.

Saturday afternoon, 4:25PM...

Just got out of the woods.
Still a foot and a half of snow in the sugarbush and nothing running in 2 test taps on the south end.
Started the day at 24 degrees above and it is now down to 8 above, sunny and windy. Expected to be 10 to 15 below tonight here in west-central Vermont.

It will be a couple weeks at least before anyone has any amount worth boiling...

Mike- Saturday, Feb 17th, Des Moines Register, page 2B, has a photo of a pipeline tap system and brief write up about a Maple Syrup Festival scheduled for March 3 - 4 at Cedar Rapids' Indian Creek Nature Center, here in Iowa. IHank

We've got 80 trees tapped and are going to start boiling next week. Weather here has been too cold over the last few days for the sap to run.

Neighbor has his line up and is getting ready to boil off this week. I havent seen anyone else running lines yet but in the next week with the word out I'm sure they'll get to it.

Are you in PA or OH? It is still too cold to tap in Vermont, but you're right, they weather is changing and it's time to get the gear ready...
