Does anyone know what "Smear Case" is and its origins? I'm told it is what cottage cheese was called way back in the old days but can't find it on the web to research it. It may not be spelled correctly. But if you know about smear case, please contact me! I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
SL Pat

Thanks for that 'new-to-me' term, Steve. I looked it up and it is spelled Lattwaerrick (apple butter). Thanks again. I love these OLD terms for things in todays world.

Okay, found a dictionary entry, a discussion from this forum, and lots others. Here ya go, just follow the links from google:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=%22smear+case%22+cheese

You have to copy and paste to your address bar, I don't know how to make links. BTW, the "" mark around your search term (ie, "smear case") narrows it down a lot.

Thanks a bunch! I didn't think to put the phrase in quotes and use a hyphen. Thank you for helping me out, I appreciate it.
