Wiring Light/Fan Remote and wall switch

Replacing old ceiling fan with a new fan that has a remote. The old fan was controlled from a wall switch with dimmer (light only; fan with pull chain). The power comes to where the fan/light is (old house), and then wire to wall switch and then back to light/fan. Can this set up be wired to use the remote and/or the wall switch to control the light, while the fan would only be controlled by the remote? If so, how would it be wired?

I forgot the live wire part when I answered below. CRS + Oldtimers I guess.

The remote light/fan only needs the live wire and ground you have in the ceiling. Neither the light or fan need plumbed over to a switch at all unless you just want a light switch.

There is no reason you can't split the wires and put the new light on a switch and the fan on remote if that's what you want but I like the remote better than a switch. So I have both on the remote.

The fan and light split off one hot wire so I just used the wire for the light and my remotes work fine.

I did'nt use the old fan wire at all it's just capped off in the ceiling
