Looking to attach an automatic gate opener to an existing gate - Found a few models on the web but does anyone have any experience w/ this type of add on gate opener?

Which type? There are several types and you said that you had found several models on the web. Could you be more specific? I made one for a sliding gate (on rollers) out of a screw type garage door opener and it has a remote controller. Much cheaper than the ones that I had found in cyberspace.

The one I was looking at is made by Mighty Mule - Doesn't look like there is a whole lot to it - I like the garage door opener idea - Did you find a water proof opener or just cover it?

I have a push button in a rain-tite electrical box on the gate post. I keep the remote in a vehicle. There is a sheet metal housing over the motor and the electric eye sensors are mounted inside that looking at each other.
