I'm probably committing some kind of HUGE social Faux Pas, but has anybody heard from DD? I haven't heard a thing from her in DAYS, and I am getting a little concerned.
Thanks in advance...

Maybe like so many other good people she was chased off by the moronic garbage spewed forth by some of the people that hang out here. I'm always amazed by the people here that call themselves "country" but are rude, stupid and far more arrogant than any "city" people ever could be.

I can only speak for myself but I started looking elsewhere for my country living information for that very reason. The board seemed to kind of go nuts for a while there; seemed to be a party for jingoists, prosyletizers and bigots. I just lurked in the hopes that we'd get back to the topic at hand.

It did irritate me for a while then I realized that folks are folks and no matter where you go there they are. No group has a handle on morality, you run into all types everywhere.

I wasn't going to repond to this post, but I felt that apollo needed a little support and acknowledgement of his/her feelings.

Look at this>>> I can only speak for myself but I started looking elsewhere for my country living information for that very reason. The board seemed to kind of go nuts for a while there; seemed to be a party for jingoists, prosyletizers and bigots. I just lurked in the hopes that we'd get back to the topic at hand <-------<<<<<<<<<< WOW!! An interllectial that came to post to us country hicks.. I think they have another term for us country folks too.Hayseeds.Now why would these educated high society folks want to talk to farmers?

Paula    Posted 06-17-2004 at 12:39:28       [Reply]  [Send Email]
I've never called anyone names. This board has
answered a great number of questions for me
regarding my move to rural PA. This recent behaviour
can only be described as anomalous - as far as I see it.
As I said, I thought I'd lurk until we got back to the topics
of the board.

I have never made any assumptions about country folk
or city folk for that matter.

Paula    Posted 06-17-2004 at 12:56:56       [Reply]  [Send Email]
I reread your post, Clod and realized that the
namecalling you were referring to was not "hayseed" or
any such abuse, but "Jingoists, prosyletizers and
bigots". I can only speak for myself but I have seen
examples of all three behaviours. As I said before, I
also realize that people come in all shapes and sizes
from all corners of the earth and there is no one group
that is immune to such behaviour.

I am sure everyone else knew what we were being called, but I needed to check those big unfamiliar words out. I was familiar with prosyletize and bigot, but thought I would refresh my memory on them, and see what the official definition was, too.

Jingoists belligerent nationalism: zealous patriotism expressing itself especially in hostility toward other countries

prosyletizers try to convert somebody: to try to convert somebody to a religious faith or political doctrine

bigots intolerant person: somebody who has very strong opinions, especially on matters of politics, religion, or ethnicity, and refuses to accept different views

Well now I know! I guess patriotism is Jingoism cause I have not observed any hatred of other countries. I have seen opposing views on religion but not prostelitizing, I think we all know we probably will not change anyone's faith of lack there of.

As far as that very general definiton of bigots; I suspect we can all fit in it somewhere because it seems if we have "strong" opinions on politics, religion or ethnicity we are. However we seem to be able to share the message board with people who disagree with us.

I was here most of the day the deletions began.
I saw Kim's explaintion, I understood her actions.
I personally think this is the best managed message board I have ever posted on.
I did not see the:
" she was chased off by the moronic garbage spewed forth by some of the people that hang out here. "
that you spoke of.

I somehow think attacks like yours "apollo" are actually the instigators that are aimed at keeping unrest here. I hate to tell you but you will not succeed because most of us are mature enough to go on and enjoy the site that Kim has provided for our enjoyment. Get over it, "apollo", whoever you are.

If DD wants to return, she is a big girl, she will.

do you kiss your mother with that mouth? don`t
hold anything back apollo from iowa, tell us
what you really think about us. i don`t think
i have seen anyone make a attack on anyone here
like you just did. try and have a nice day just
to spite yourself.

I asked the same question a week ago, got no answer. I believe dieselrider is close in his assessment. Many things were said, some with cause, some without. Much of what was said was done so without full knowledge of the facts at the time. I wish it had not happened but we have to go forward. I think she is a very good Christian person and her posts were always good and usually inspirational to me.

toolman    Posted 06-16-2004 at 19:22:07       [Reply]  [No Email]
i looked forward to her christan posts especially first thing in the moring.

I hope sumdem talerban did'nt abducked her.

I think that whole episode had her very upset and she hasn't been around since. Wish we could put that behind and move forward. Too much to life to get a upsot over words blabbered on the web.

their politics seriously,
and the one on the left was in the middle
and the one on the right was on the left
the one in the middle was on the right...
Ok, ok, somebody else finish the song I forgot the words.

Les    Posted 06-16-2004 at 19:42:10       [Reply]  [No Email]
As I remember the words from that Johnny Cash song, the chorus went something like
"And the one on the right was, on the left.
And the one in the middle was, on the right.
And the one in the left was, in the middle.
And the guy in the rear.......was a Methodist."
(One chorus ends with....."got drafted".

I get CBC Radio up here, and get to listen to all the political chatter on both sides of the border. When it gets too much, there is always, GOOD OLD ROCK AND ROLL.
Scary thought, R&R Has been around for 50 years.
Bill Haley started it all.
Charles-Lookin for some peaceful new age music

toolman    Posted 06-16-2004 at 19:42:58       [Reply]  [No Email]
i get all them channles on the dish, all from the old rock n roll and old country , right to classical, sure like the old country better than most of todays stuff and listening to the old rock n roll sure brings back some good memories,we get the federal elections this year and our news covers the us campaign alot, next year here in b.c. we got provinical and local elections all to much for me.

Burrhead    Posted 06-16-2004 at 18:51:47       [Reply]  [No Email]
that aint no kiddin. I always figgered the net is about like a CB radio. There is'nt any use to get upset by folks with a Rambo complex.
