Maybe we see it more than others cuz this is tourist country, but it seems like there are lotsa empty cabins so far this year. Our mechanic is slower than usual, the realtors are already saying last summer had more traffic, those places that switched to summer hours are switching back, and the next town's carnival didn't show up at all, despite their $5000 deposit and everything.

Carnival claimed they were stuck in the mud down south but that town's police dept doesn't know of any carnival and they're not flooded so maybe it's a scam. Sounds like an outfit that's filing bankruptcy to me. Trouble is - we have our deposit with the same guys. Do what you can, stay alert and save yer money folks. Hard times drive people to desperate moves. :)

I think gas prices has a lot to do with it. The govt. is trying to down play loosing all the good jobs but it is going to put us in another ression. As far as the carnaval I think I would be carney hunting !!

If gas prices don't get as high as we need them to be for a recession in America maybe we can invade Venezuela.

We had the same kind of problem last year with a small carnival outfit. They never showed up and they claimed that they were having engine trouble with one of the rigs. They said they were still set up in a town about 150 miles from here. Our township supervisor called the other town and was told they never showed up there either. Both towns put down $7500. They were never able to recover the money.

If you want to and can find it, email me the name of the carnival or proprietors or anything you think would help. Please put the word CARNIVAL in the subject line. Maybe we have a shyster who's making a living this way and i can think of another place for him to spend his spare time.

I will get the info from the township and get back with you. I hope things go okay for your towns carnival.
