Rude People

People are just unbelieveable around here. Shelby and I went out for just a little bit, I had to run a few errands.

Went down this road and there are two lanes on each side of the road. Well, they were doing some road construction, so one lane on my side was shut down. That backed up traffic. Wasn't too upset, not in a big hurry. I decided to wait it out and move on through in an orderly fashion, wait my turn in line to go through the intersection. While I was waiting my turn, here comes this, AHEM, Black woman in a cadillac and pulls the nose of her car right on in from of me and wedges her way in. Meanwhile, there is traffic backed up behind me. Well, I didn't think this was very fair to me and all the others, so..I sat there, and I cussed under my breath, and then not under my breath. It was eating me alive. I told Shelby now THAT is what I am talking about, that is not a black that is a N-----, well, you know. Thinking she can just break in and do whatever she wants. So...I wait til there is nothing coming and I am going to turn into a parking lot across the way and turn around a go another route, because if I stay in line with this person another moment I think I might have to ring her neck. As I swung around, I stopped next to her, she just happened to have her window down, and I said

"WELL, I ams o glad you think you are so special that you can just pull right in front of me"

She says "well, thankyou, thankyou very much"

I flipped her off promptly and went about my way.

THEN...we go to McDonalds. Shelby wants the NeoPets they have in the Happy meals, so I order me a Happy Meal also so she can have two NepPets. Before I do that I ask if I can have two DIFFERENT NeoPets. The lady says sure. We pull away, and dam if they weren't the same. I send Shelby back in to get a different one, and she comes back out and says they told her they only have the one.

BULLSH*T!!! I park, go in, and tell them I was promised two different NeoPets, and that I don't even like their food, that the only reason I ordered one for me is so she could have two different toys. The manager comes up and asks whats the problem. Itell her her employees don't need to be making promises they don't know anything about.

Low and Behold, she comes back with a whole new box of DIFFERENT NeoPets. She and her whole crew were just too lazy to go open a new box PHHHHT...sorry to say, yes, they were all black.

How can I have an impartial view of this race if all I get is flack everytime I walk out the door???????

I could not wait to get back home. I have got 10 more months of this crap and then I am so gone from this county.

Sorry, had to vent...and y'all are good listeners. :) I feel better now.

i have kept a count of people that have "broken in line" in front of me over the past few years. for instance you waiting in line at a parts counter to be waited on and a person walks up just as the salesman looks up and says "who's next?) out of the fifteen times it has happened since i kept count, thirteen of the fifteen have something in common. just an observation. but in general i think all people are more rude. i guess its the pressure of todays society,,,,maybe

Remember a retired friend telling me of a before daylight fishing trip stop for a biscuit. He and others were in line on a busy morning. Two baggy britches brothers walk up in front of everyone and try to intimidate the cashier into taking their order. The little ol' man was a retired steelworker and when he told the two to get their a$$es to the back of the line, they must have picked it up in his voice that he meant exactly what he said. To the back they went like little kittens. It it better to stand your ground, if you don't stand for something you stand for nothing at all.

Reminds me of two women that I watched from the cab of a truck. One just sticks her nose in front of the other where there was no room or invite. Thought there was going to be a hair pulling for sure, my light changed and they were still dogging each other out of my sight.

I feel as you though, there are some folks that are just ignorant and trouble makers, they are many and close together. They are hard to ignore.

Willy-N    Posted 06-23-2004 at 16:52:54       [Reply]  [No Email]
Kelly's you got to mellow out a little and not get so upset. I have white people doing things like that all the time to me it is not just color that does it. Think of your child learning from you in how you react to pressure. Your her teacher and you are the one who will show her how to deal with problems in the future. Yes I cuss sometimes when they do it to me. Lot of crazys out there to make comment thru your window to?? Mark H.

Life became sooooooooo much easier for me when I took off my "GOD SUIT"

What was the real reason for your anger?

You already said you weren't in a hurry so why get mad when someone cuts? I wonder what would happen if that woman would have gotten as angry as you did when you confronted her?

People who come from bad counties usually end up in bad counties cause where ever THEY go there THEY are.

What did your daughter learn about behavior?

no race of people or location of people has a monopoly on rudness. but it does seem easier to get really PO'd at a race other than the one one belongs to.
the plant in which i work has hired many "eastern indians" of late. when the "foreigner's" enter the cafeteria most of the "good" white folks get up and leave.

Paula    Posted 06-23-2004 at 12:43:57       [Reply]  [Send Email]
You know, something similar happened to me. This
white guy was so rude at Lowes the other day, and his
coworkers were terrible too, and they were white.
Coincidence? Of course not, it obviously has everything
to do them being white. And oh my gosh, where I'm
moving I ran into this twelve year old girl running
around barefoot, smoking and spitting -obviously white
trrailer trash. My goodness, this neighborhood has
gone down the drain.

Too bad we don't have more chinese people around
here. I mean, they're quiet and small and take up less
space. And heck the're always smiling.

sigh

Paula, by gum I'm happy to give the "AMEN" to your posts in this thread. There's lots of things I don't agree with you about but we're together on this one
";^)
Willy-N, dittos to you, too.
And Salmoneye, I know what you're thinking. ";^)

I know what your getting at. I also know areas of our country are VERY different. Even areas of Georgia. It just seems the closer I get to the big city Of Atlanta, the ruder everybody gets.

If you get out rural, everybody is nice. Country blacks as people call them are just as nice as any color person. I don't mean to offend. YOu have to put yourself in my shoes and go through what I have been through to understand. I TRY to give every body a chance before I judge. Its just some people won't give me the chance to be nice before they are rude to me.

Paula    Posted 06-23-2004 at 13:07:07       [Reply]  [Send Email]
You are right Kelly, urban areas are more hostile than
rural areas. I think the anthropologists say its because
the population is too large to have a clan identity so it's
every man for himself and, consequently, individuals
are less likely to think about the impact of their
behaviour on others. Also personal space is
challenged in a high population density so people react
more aggressively, are more hyper-aware and more
stressed. At least so goes the theory.

Consider this though Kelly, even as you're just
expressing your frustrations, you can hurt a person's
spirit by how you do so. Without some explanation the
recipient might feel a target of your hostility - and may
react in a hostile way (not physically necesarily, but in
other ways).

Just a thought. Didn't mean to get all Quaker on ya.

I emailed you :) It's okay, I know I can be a bit crazy at times. ;)

...out here in my koun-trree (Kalifornia), it would be a (pick your race, ethnicity, etc.) woman in a Lexus or a 5-story SUV (20" chrome mag wheel covers that spin independently from the wheel) with Marin County plates (that would be the SF Bay area BIG $$$$$) poking its nose in places.

MiceyDees...my guess you could lift that situation out of your town and slap it down just about anywhere in this big wide country...and it's probably more a function of the age of the workers and type of job. I've gotten lots of "tude" from fast food workers. Ever work fast food? It's very rewarding and refreshing.

Was your car air conditioning not working?

Hang in there!

Nope, I hit the button to roll mine down to comment to her. :)

I guess I was just born in the wrong era, I am getting to be an old fart I guess. I long for the days I don't even know about personally. All I know is people get in too big of a hurry, seems there is no time for anything anymore. I personally make time to live a slower pace. :)

Salmoneye    Posted 06-23-2004 at 12:18:39       [Reply]  [No Email]
Um...

I can't even comment...On sooo many levels...

My karma ran over my dogma...

You can email me and tell me what you wanted to say...lol! I can take it. Whether you agree with me or not. ;) I can "discuss" things without getting in a "red-headed" fit, lol. ( My mama is redheaded, but not me, so I am closely related to a redhead. )

jfky    Posted 06-23-2004 at 12:18:32       [Reply]  [No Email]
Well Kelly (not the race but the attitude)Remember MLK said he wanted us to be judged by the content of our character and not the color of our skin. I view people like that much as a small rooster, they love to crow and strut around-makes em feel good. The roosters at my house want to act as though they are in charge-ocassionally they learn by the brunt of my boot that they are not! Still they crow and strut. Ultimately you cannot do anything to them that have not already done or will do to themselves-their own worst enemies
Remember who ever controls your anger controls you. On a more common note why are their so many toilets in the world because their are plenty of a-holes to fill em! Hope your day goes better

I know I know, and I told Shelby I shouldn't let people like that get under my skin, so I calmed down, and put on some country tunes in the truck, felt much better. :)

I live in (GROAN) Clayton County. This county is just ruined. Its crowded and full of crime. Looking down in Butts County off of 75, and Ian is looking off of 85 down as far as Meriwether County. Keep your finsgers crossed I don't kill anybody before we get out of this h*llhole, lol.

Thanks for the compliments on the chickens, they really are neat. :)

Jimbob    Posted 06-23-2004 at 16:54:04       [Reply]  [No Email]
Chalk it up to the following: 'I'm out for myself', 'you owe me' and 'its not my fault'. Most prevelent in the cities. This not race dependent either, but if you are white, you are the most hated for sharing your land, customs, money thru unfair taxes, etc.

I just blow it off, sign of the times.

KellyGa    Posted 06-23-2004 at 20:35:53       [Reply]  [No Email]
Good Idea, I will just blow it off. No since in getting my blood pressure up over some dum dum.
