This one happened when I was just a little tyke {yeah,there was a time when I was little}
I was way out in the pasture playing when I heard the chickens really squawking unusually loud. Litle tyke that I was, I didn't give it much thought-til my mother came out to the pasture--hands on hips and looking EXTREEMLY upset. Which was out of charactar for her--so I said Mom, what's the matter?(thinking her maternal instinct would kick in and she might find solace in confiding in her young son}
She replied WHY DIDN'T YOU COME WHEN I CALLED YOU?? I WAS YELLING FOR 5 MINUTES!!
To which I replied, in total adolescent honesty, "Was that you?? I thought it was the chickens!!"
Well, needless to say, there was no mother/son bonding that day! So much for that Kodak moment!!
There was nothing I could say to make that normally understanding woman believe I wasn't being sassy!
I think she went to her grave believing I was being a little smarta$$!
So, Kelly, take heed--if Shelby ever tells you she mistook you calling for the chickens, PLEASE give her the benefit of the doubt!!
N.G.
