I am a stay-at-home Mom in the Shelbyville, Wartrace, Bell Buckle, TN area. My family and I recently moved to Middle Tennessee from Arizona. We have plans to buy a small parcel of land, 3-5 acres, to homestead on. I have ordered 15 baby chicks to arrive in mid-April. Ten are buff orpingtons, five are black australorps. I've been looking into dairy goats, also. I recently learned about mini-nubians. I have two small children, a dog, and a husband. Would appreciate any advice, contacts, etc on finding good, affordable land in our area, homesteading for income, raising chickens, goats, children, and finding other like-minded folks in our area!

There is a new homesteading in TN, that has just been formed.

You maybe interested in it. It is for the whole family.

It may give you some help, and you maybe able to help others.

It is free!!

Heather, if you find any land in that area, be sure to tell us. I'm interested in moving that way myself for the same reasons. Tennessee is the most beautiful state in the union, IMO. Good luck.....

There is quite a bit of land for sale in the area, but much larger parcels than what we want, or need. Sometimes, it's not what we're looking for. With two small children and a dog, we want to be as far away from busy roads as possible! I'm on vacation right now, let you know what I find when I'm back in TN! Thank you!
