I read once upon a time that W.C "Warren" Fields was a non believer but when his friends visited him at the hospital as he was dying he was continually reading the Bible.

One of his friends asked him what he was doing reading it all the time. He told his friends he was *looking for a loophole*.

He musta been looking for the Basic Instructions himself. ;^)

I always thought so too Cindi.

Another one that hits my funnybone was about Sam Houston.

The folklore is that when Sam was dying the news media sent folks from all over the world to Texas to cover his death and he allowed some of the reporters to stay at his home 24/7.

When he knew the time was near he called what reporters were at his home into his bedroom to talk. There were 2 of them there at the time.

He told the reporters that he felt like he imaged Jesus felt when he had died.

The one asked him if he meant he felt persecuted.

Prez Sam told him no not at all. I'm like Jesus because "I am dying trapped between 2 lying thieves."

The reporters all of a sudden felt they had to leave him alone and he was allowed to die in peace without anymore questions.

Well he was right then and if he had it all to do over again today he would be even more right.

Oooh...another good one. And Clod is right, it applies even more today.
