put the radio on channel 19.

When you take off down the road key that didio up an just keep saying over and over "breaker one nine, breaker one nine, this is Steve, come on, come on, what's your twenty good buddy, does anybody have yer ears on good buddies"

either that or

"breaker one nine for a radio check, can anybody hear me, good buddies come on back"

Steve, channel 19 is about the only channel used by the truckers, and the motoring public.
If I could give your one word of advice, keep the volume low if you are going to have the wife and kids in the car.
The language you'll hear is not the kind that your family is used to hearing.
Good luck and drive safe
Ron

Channel 19-it's basically the official trucker/traqveller channel. But a word of advice--if you get into a conversation of any length, it's considered good etiquet to go to another channel in order to keep 19 open for people needing direction and information about road construction, accidents up ahead, etc.
Have a safe trip!
