The paddlewheel got me downriver and back to the doghouse. (I probly should have left a note. Well i do stuff, you know!:) Anyway, it seems to have a top speed that's fast enough to get me upstream - barely. And that's about half-throttle. I think it experiences something like blade stall or something - open it up and it churns more, throws water further, turns faster and everything but doesn't seem to gain alot of speed. Maybe it's still a problem with paddle depth or walling them in or something. And i got rock bass and northerns to clean so it wasn't a wasted afternoon. Interesting fishin trip. :)

Do you have a paddlebox housing around the paddles? I thought that was supposed to force the water flying around out the back, increasing the power slightly. Just a thought.

Can you post a photo of this River Boat? That would be interesting to see.

Morning Dave, I think DC should get that new boat out in Georgian Bay and give her a real work out for her sea trials.

I think you have found the optimum wheel speed DC. Now to harness the full power of your engine, I think you could further reduce the drive speed of the wheel and increase the area of the paddles

Yeah you're probly right - the engine has extra horses so i need more paddle to put it to work. As-is, more rpm just gives you a killer rooster-tail! Great for yeehaw but not much for production. :)

DC, get that one worked out and then you will be able to take on the Great Lakes and navigate your way right over to Dave's Island with her.
