Nah, not really smelly, but the fresh hay does smell good when you put it in the chicken house. I love the smell of hay. :) The neighbor on one side is getting eggs from me, and the neighbor on the other side will, when I get more eggs popping out. Bribary will get you everywhere, lol! No stinky chicken house here, all clean. :) The chickens never smell bad anyway. Have you ever stuck your face in a chickens feathers and sniffed? They don't smell. At least mine don't. ;) My neighbors are pretty close, I'm not supposed tohave chickens, but I don't really mind too well, LOL! I defy authority!! LOL!

Startin to get the mental picture of your place. No I ain't never took no close smell of a chicken. I should say I can't remember that close smell as I grew up on a farm and chckens were always around. Now just how is it that you aint suppost to have no chickens and what is it with this defyin authority thing. I have heard many a time that somethin taste like chicken so what is it to smell like a chicken. Now I do remember somewhat what the old henhouse smelled like and it weren't nice. Best I can remember thee were 2 places on the farm that us kids didn't play ad that was the henhouse and the hogwaller. Again just bein plain old country nosy.

LOL! Well, the poo is what stinks, really. So its not the chickens that smell. But I cleaned it out just today as a matter of fact.

Well, its like this, I have a back yard that can only be seen by one neighbor, and we are friends, os its okay. In my neck of the woods, I am not supposed to have a chicken dwelling within 600 feet of another house, against city code. My chickens are better kept than a lot of dogs around here, so I don't see nothing wrong with having some hens, I don't have any roosters, so its relatively quiet, I taint botherin nobody, so hopefully nobody will tell on me. We have 9 months and counting left to pay on this house, and then we are getting serious and finding our perfect getaway, our home on hopefully 10 acres. Until then, I have my chickens, but later, there will be more, lots more animals! I love them. You have seen my pictures of my chicken run and house I built myself, and pictures of my chickens, right? If not, just click on Photo Gallery, and in search, put in KellyGa, then you won't have to picture it in your head anymore. (grin)

I have lived where people would get upset about chickens, I guess and Yes I have looked at the pictures you have posted and was a thinkin that there is someone that really likes a chicken to go to all that effort. A mighty fine effort I mite add. Sure hopin you get onto that 10 acre you have been wantin and that you will be able to have your chickens and other animals there.

say it ain,t so buck , kellys chickens SMELLY? why i can,t belive that she takes better care of them than some folks i know take care of their kids, and i,ll bet they smell a whole lot better than some of my buddies opps kinda says something about the company i keep haha, maybe shes just tryin to get rid of some of them bad neighbours, know a fellow who made it very public that he was starting a pig farm right next to a 100 acres that a developer was lookin at, land is still vacant and he,s still talkin about pigs , someday lol.

Now for a time I lived in the outskirts of one of the East semi-big Cities but did have a safe area with dirt road and all,(them city folks just don't take to pickup trucks with muddy tires in a parking lt full of Volvos and Kedlaks) Anyways we sorta shared taking off the trash as the trash truck didn't want to come down our little dirt road. One family always had the most foul smellin trash that one can imagine. Sure was worse than anything I ever smelled on a farm. But then again some of them cities just got to build all around them sewage treatment plants where they keep all them solids in open air pits untill they are ripe enough to transport.
