Steel Bldg VS. Pole Barn, cost and advantages
[Return to Topics]

I am planning to build, or have built a building in Michigan to store toys and maybe my motorhome if my budget stretches far enough. I am leaning toward pole construction because I believe I could build a 16 X 48 X 14 high initially and then if I need to I could add lean to side or sides to expand it. Has anyone compared the DIY price of steel verses pole barn? Thanks, Ted

If all you are doing is 'storing' stuff and you never intend to have a poured concrete floor and close it in fully from the elements (as in heat or cool it), then pole barn is the way to go...

If, however, you ever forsee turning it into a heated workspace, then I would spend the money upfront and go with all steel construction...

Just my opinion...
