anybody else know what would make a shelties coat get all oily, could it be food, ever since i tried that wellness dog that we were all talking about a while back he has gotten itchy to the point of scratching himself raw in certain places, his skin turned a orange colour and got all flaky, we have him off that food now and his skin is white again but he is itchy and losing some hair. had him to the vet , not fleas, was treated for all parasites, put on a different diet helped some, now just got back from the vet and had blood tests done. and NO bob he hasn,t been helping me change the oil in the tractor again.

Sounds like a food allergy to me all right. I sure wish I could get you some of that Diamond Lamb and Rice. It has really helped Tip lose a few pounds, and she loves it. You know, a bag would last you a while. I would be happy to ship a bag to you, might be a bit expensive to ship, but a huge bag of the food is only like 23.00, and you know I wouldn't charge you a thing over the price of shipping and the food, cause you are my friend, and I love y'all! I could get a sturdy packing box and pack it up good for you and send it. You know I would be happy to do it for you.

It takes a long time for that food to get out of their system. I guess thats why they tell you to switch their diet gradually if you are changing foods, so it doesn't upset their system. this case, I wouldn't make the transition, I would just switch, like you did.

Might try getting some kind of soothing oatmeal or aloe dog bath soap, I can get you some of that from Petsmart and send it to you, also maybe some type of skin soothing spray. I have a spray on skin Conditioner for the dog and the cats, non medicated, and then I have medicated too.

My father in law has a little dog that would chew all her hair off she was so itchy. He gave her some kind of pills for humans, a natural supplement, I will have to ask him again what it was, and you can try that too. I will get back with you on that.

You say the word, and I will send you that stuff, I trust you to reimburse me, I know you are good for it. Just let me know, be happy to do it, anything for the love of a dog! ;)

thanks kelly , your probably right about the food, the vet put him on hypo alleregy stuff he didn,t care much for it so i took him off it the other day, im putting him on hills science food for a senior dog, i mixed it slow with his old stuff he should be rid of the old stuff in a day or so. i think what happened was when this mad cow thing hit the fan and the US said no more canadian cows our govt. said no more american dog food with beef in it, the stuff i was feeding was from the states and now the food company gets it from austriala and i think maybe something is different, he normally only gets a small amount a day of the meat stuff then gets nutros kibbles but when teddy got sick we had to change teddys food and he couldn,t have kibbles and we gave this fellow more of that austrialian meat food to offset his lack of nutros, anyways if that all makes any sense to you haha. well see how he does on this diet now and we have just finished giving him a bath in the shampoo the vet gave us yesterday, she figures that will help his skin too, so i,ll just have to wait and see now i guess, when it comes to my boys i want to do and give them the best but sometimes i have to learn to have patience and wait to see if this food helps him, teddy is on the same brand of food and it has worked wonders for him he looks years younger and he has been on it about a month now, so we,ll see .thanks for your offer of sending that food though , it is nice to have a friend like who would do that , i appreciate it very much.if you find out what that natural stuff is though please let me know ok.thanks again.

yup i took clean 5w30 out the other night and put in clean 10w30, it,s in the high 90,s now . i always run 10w 30 year round before in everything but i see in the newer truck they call for the 5w 30 stuff, too thin im thinking, might be good when its 35 below but i still like the heavier stuff and nope i never let peeze help with that oil change either.
