You had said below about "blowing the fire out of a burn", I know alot of folks might think it's a buncha hooey but My Granny could also stop the flow of blood. I could hardly believe my ears one day when my Mother told about once when my Father hit his ankle with an axe and Granny was right there and stopped the flow of blood before it ever hit the ground. Has anybody else ever heard of such a thing? This could be very interesting as she also did all the "Doctoring" for all the folks who lived near them and delivered many babies too : )

could staff the hospital emergency rooms with all these old grannys and cure about everything that came in the door. People wouldn't suffer from burns anymore, course the medical profession wouldn't like it. They would rather see kids all scarred up? Don't think so.
REt kind of a skeptic

Thank-You for your input REt but to anyone who's ever witnessed it firsthand, it'll make a Believer out of you for sure ; )

then why    Posted 07-24-2004 at 20:15:46       [Reply]  [No Email]
don't you take it upon yourself to assemble some of these people and save hundreds of little kids from the pain of burns. Seems to me it would have been done a long time ago.

It works REt    Posted 07-25-2004 at 00:16:40       [Reply]  [No Email]
Don't laugh REt, it works. It worked on me and I have done it for others. It's affective for small to intermediate burns. Use the force.

Well Gee REt, You seem like a pretty smart feller to me, I woulda thought the answer would have come to you pretty easy. The MD's surely wouldn't be able to keep livin their high fallutin' way of life if some Country person would do that. Now just how many times do you think they'd allow that to happen before it started hittin em in their wallets and they caused a big stink about it? And for the record, My Granny DID help everyone who asked for her help. Maybe if their were a few less skeptics in the world then the people who have these "gifts" might feel a lil more open to sharing them with the rest of the world. IMO there are too many people who are too quik to judge something that they don't understand themselves. Have a Great Nite REt : )

Once knew a woman who could stop the bleeding. Once day, the neighborhood kids were playing, and one got her hand cut pretty bad. One kid ran into our house and called her mom (they lived nearby) and the mom came rushing over with a bible and took the child's hand, closed her eyes and moved her lips for a few seconds, and the bleeding stopped. I didn't doubt it was real, for by then I'd learned to 'blow fire' as my kids call it.

My granny was a Granny Doctor who had worked with a doctor in her younger years. He rode circuit, and she took care of the patients in his absence, including dispensing medicines and delivering babies. She believed strongly in herbal cures.

DD I don't doubt your Grannie at all. An old hardshell deacon told me how to stop bleeding about 25-30 years ago. It has never failed for me yet, but it's not me that does it--it's the prayer.

JB One of my old podnuhs has the gift to blow the fire out of a burn and he can also cure thrush mouth. That was always some pretty handy things around folks raising kids.

Some folks raise kids sitting in a doctor's waiting room but I would rather just pray over the kids and watch them be well.

Please don't think I meant that I thought it was HER doing the healing. I KNOW it was God who was and always is ultimately in charge. I Apologize if I didn't make myself perfectly clear on that.

aw naw it's all good DD. I understood what you meant about it. I just did'nt want anybody who might read this to think I was bragging.

I'll testify about it but I might get struck down if it came out as a brag.

DD    Posted 07-24-2004 at 18:33:59       [Reply]  [No Email]
I don't think any of us meant it as a brag, least I didn't and I can only speak for myself. I think it's kinda neat that some other folks here knew about it too : )

nah I did'nt see anybody bragging. I just get gun shy and did'nt want to come across as bragging either.

Folks sometimes know more about this stuff than they let on.

DD, I worked with a strange man on a pipe laying project back in the last half of the sixties who could handle red hot embers without getting burned. He said that he was a Fakker, Someone who could walk on a bed of coals. Now, I saw him perform that same thing several times. What he would do was to reach into a fire and extract a burning red coal between his fingers and leasurely lite his cigarette. He said it was purely a case of mind over matter. And, I'd always agree with him by saying, "It don't MATTER how hard I try, my MIND tells me not to stick my hand into a fire.......gfp

DD    Posted 07-24-2004 at 17:09:37       [Reply]  [No Email]
Yep, my mind tells me that too but if I hadn't seen her do this with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. As kids we were all running around playing one time in the evening while all the adults were "visiting" and the womenfolk were all up on the porch talking and the menfolk were all sitting out around a big bonfire. Well, like kids will do sometimes, one of them got too close to the fire and stepped right in a bed of hot coals. One of the menfolks snatched her up and ran to Granny with her and she "blew the fire" out of that childs foot and she was fine. My Dad was very badly burned when some idjit threw a cigarette butt near him where he was pumping gas one day when I was just a little girl. He forgot to Stop, Drop and Roll and by the time some fellers tackled him he was burned pretty bad. Granny wanted to come to the hospital and "blow the fire" out of those burns but he wouldn't allow it even though he knew it worked because he didn't want anyone to laugh at him because folks would think it was all a buncha hooey if they'd never witnessed it before. Needless to say it took forever for those burns to heal and he still has scars now which he wouldn't have had if he'd only not been so stubborn. She'd also hold her Bible and you could see her lips moving but couldn't make out the words. It never seemed "out of the ordinary" to me because I'd seen her do it many times. I wonder how many other folks here have heard of this kind of thing and won't reply for fear of being laughed at too? LOL!

My ability to 'blow fire' entails a prayer, also. I guess all those things that really work are biblical.

Talking of feet getting burned, reminded me of something happened when I was a kid. A little boy walked into the ash covered coals where his mama had been using an iron wash pot. Burned his feet really badly. It was 2 or 3 days before my granny heard about it, and her reaction was, "Why in the world didn't someone come get me, or bring him to me?" There was some snickering went on about that... but little did they know!!!

DD, I know what you mean. People are so afraid of what others might think. But, My dear Aunt Martha was said not be able to read but she read her Bible. Now, she live to be over ninty and she read her Bible through out her life time. Some might say say she memorized what she knew but anyone who had ever been around her knew this was not so. It was her faith that made it possible to read The Bible but she couldn't read a newspaper or another book. So, don't ever doubt the miracles of God.........gfp
