How many acres per horse on grass does it take for grazing per year, with and without supplemental feed. The fields are irregated.
Thank You Smitty

We run about an acre to a acre and a 1/2 per horse. The most has been 3/4 an acre per horse, that caused them to graze pretty close. They're taken off for four months during the winter and hayed closer to the house.

depends on where you live i guess, up here we get snow for 5 months, we usually have to hay feed for around 7 months, so on pasture for the summer if you have 2 to 3 acres per horse of good pasture you are ok.
