Did any of you ever sell Cloverine salve? If you did, what prize did you earn?
I was brought up out in the country and every kid out there tried selling that stuff. I seem to remember it smelled good though.

Chas, I remember selling it but I don't remember the prize. I know it came in the mail in a cardboard cylinder with a cap and it held maybe 10 or 12 little round tins. It was decorated with flowers. That's about all I can remember about it except that there was an old German man that liked it so much he bought several cans. Or, maybe he just liked me and wanted to reward my efforts. But, he and his kind wife praised Clover brand salve.........gfp

Nope but i sure remember cloverine salve. And the Watkins & Rawleigh dealers that came by. The kids' segment of our rural economy seemed to revolve around the 5-cent bounty we received for gopher tails and was supplemented by selling Grit papers and Hershey bars. Then if still more money was needed, you traded things like comic books or went after more lucrative pelts like weasels & beavers. :)

Mom didn't 'low no comic books, alla weasels were too busy trying to get elected. Did spend a fair amount of time going after beavers, never had much success...

I never sold a solitary can, nor did I ever have the money for return postage. We sure as the devil didn't have the money to buy the salve ourselves! LOL. We just went ahead and finally used the salve and threw the duns away. In time they quit coming. Good memory!
