I read an article today about the WTO wants to eliminate or greatly reduce countries from subsidising products (ag and industrial) so that all countries would have a level playing field in world trade. Have any of you heard of this and if so what are your thoughts. I asked up on tractor talk but, I wanted to ask here too. Do you think it will help us with countries like China which subsidises most of their manufacturing industry? Or will it hurt us in the terms of lost agriculture exports?

That is a good read but, if we sign on to this WTO thing won't we also have to abide by it's rules. I know ,like the article said, this is why alot of other nations do not like the USA. I just thought that we would have to play by the same rules. I was also hoping that we would actually make out in the industry side against countries like China and the Asian rim.

There is another factor involved here. The USA has a lot of beauricratic regulations involved in the industries. In the third world nations like China they could care less about regulations on industrial waste and oil spills, safety regulations and I sappose they have an advanage over us because they dont pay a minimum wage. I doubt if a Chinaman will ever draw an unemployment check ,He may draw a bullet if he gets fired.
