The USS Maddox and USS Turner Joy engage North Vietnamese gunboats in what history will record as the Gulf of Tonkin incident. This action resulted in quick escalation of the Vietnam "conflict"

conflict.....looked more like a full blown war to me

'conflict' nice words our government used for a lot of lost lives in a conflict they refused to fight to win. Fiance was killed there in 1970 and his poor mom never recovered ,in fact she died within 2 mo.

That is sad Donna, and so senseless. I guess I should forget and move on, but I can't forget that over 59000 Americans died there. It ruined a generation and took away the youth of those who lived through it.

It is so sad and senseless. i love my life and my hubby very much but I was 17 when Dave left forVietnam and he never came back. Eventually I went on with my life but some things set me off like a parade on Memorial Day . I'm lucky that my husband is retired navy and he understands.

yes, it started in the '50s, actually earler if you consider that the French were there before us. I think it actually had been going on between different factions since the end of World War Two.
BTW- I think I misposted a reply to your post last week when I said something about being barefoot. I thought you were someone else here that likes to go barefooted.Sorry.

Burrhead    Posted 08-04-2004 at 20:23:01       [Reply]  [No Email]
yeah but now Clod even you gotta admit Slick Willy was the only one in the group that enjoyed his job. Ceegars and all.

With a low life like we got in the Whitehouse now I don't know that Willy was such a bad person after all. I know if you compare the 2, Bush and Clinton, it would be a close call.
