Now, what the heck are you doing busting up a leg at the start of harvest? One of these days I'll have to tell some stories about Papa Travis and his busted up leg.

How far outside of Saint Maries are you.

Was stationed in Idaho with the Navy back '74-'76. Really enjoyed Idaho, still do.

Will send a few notes your way, or could catch ya here on the KL forum.

Where to hide a very larg    Posted 08-06-2004 at 19:09:06       [Reply]  [No Email]

Most people are not aware of the naval presence in Idaho. Actually they have several Naval Bases. Lake Farragut(sp.?)was used for some deep water research. Located in the pan handle of Idaho just south of lake Couer D'Alene ( easier to spell than to say for the uninitated)

The lakes in that area of WA and ID are very deep. Can't say how deep, may have to look in to that.

However I was stationed just east of "Craters of the Moon". There by the "Big lost River Disapears Where The Flowing Water Sinks Into The Sand" and the "Little Lost River Disappears Where The Flowing Water Sinks Into The Sand"

We had two submarines and an aircraft carrier.

Pretty good hidie hole, don't ya think?

It is funny the Navy gets bases so far from sea.. You would think they would stay where the ships could get to the bases.

I would like to hear more about that sometime. So how did you get that carrier in there? The Philadelphia Experiment?

SHHHHHHHHHHsssssssssss..    Posted 08-06-2004 at 20:11:41       [Reply]  [No Email]
Shouldn't mention that, strange things may start happening...:^)

Before the USS.Nautilus was built they had to prove thier technology. So they built where the Ruskoies wouldn't look.

Hey the Army was there, so was the Airforce.

After the Army scattered one of their mobile reactor across sixty miles of Idaho desert('63), they covered the cleanup debris on the highway with 18" of pavement.

Then told the Airforce that their nuclear aircraft may someday take off, but it would never land in Idaho.

Dept. of Transportation tried a Nuclear powered Merchant ship and a Nuclear powered Locomotive. NIMBY stopped them.

Meantime the Navy kept a low profile. Well at least until I came along anyways.

They had a fleet of subs in Farragut,Latt48 Long117.4

I was stationed out in the desert Latt44, Long112.

The picture of the Bubble Bath Machine is Latt42.5 Long116.8

You may have to copy the map to a file on your system to open it up full size, I do not know how to size on the forum.

NIMBY?thought that was the space program, wasn,t he capt.kirks second in command or was that SPOCK, not sure anymore , the darn desert heat did something to my memory i,ll ask DOC when i see him again.

Alex    Posted 08-06-2004 at 20:47:31       [Reply]  [No Email]
I picture you as being north of Glacier/? Park.

Your ip addie says Latt49.8830 Long-97.167, Can't be very fer north of the border.

Don't suppose that time Lake Missoula let loose is related to the strange happenings?
