Does anyone know if a walnut tree will adversly affect a garden.
A friend of mine has a garden that progressevly decreases as it nears a walnut tree.
Any connection
Thanx
Ron

Indeed a walnut tree roots will actually poison a veg. garden.....we quit planting tomatoes in our veg. garden way down in the back of our yard, our University extension published a toxic booklet of trees that can kill veg. planted to close to their root system. Check it out with your county agent...

I have a multi-floral rose that killed a walnut tree it was around, but the walnut tree got the last laugh by killing the rose! Those things are hard to kill!

dunno but i got a weeping brich that is being attacked by some kind of hornet they are eating holes in it, ive tried everything , even had flypaper in the tree, it helped but last night some little wood pecker got caught in it , was flapping around with his wing stuck to the flypaper, got him out and had to bath him to get all the sticky stuff off his wing, then collie got the blow dryer and dried him off , he was good just sat in my hands and let us help him, put him in a tree, he clung to the side watched us till dark, was gone this moring, thats twice so far this spring he,s been involved with me, he,s getting to know me pretty well i think.don,t think the the tree is goin all that well though, carpenter bees or something i think they are called.

Hello Ron
Yes a walnut tree will affect a lot of things growing under it. We have well over one hundred of them on our place. Here in southwest Missouri bluegrass grows under them well. But a cow won't eat it very well. Need to move garden away from it . Archie
