We had a little excitement today. There was a BLM fire a few miles northwest of our place. I've posted the pictures on another forum, but you should be able to access them with this link. Thought you might enjoy seeing them.

Looks like it was starting to blow up good! Got to like those Tankers dumping water or retardent. Some places it hard to get into and that is the only way to put them out. Thanks for the picures!! Mark H.

It was beginning to really grow just before the tankers started their drops. It was sure nice to see that white smoke appear after the drops. The terrain is rocky & mostly thick stands of large cedars (junipers).

To give some perspective, our elevation here at home is about 5700 feet. In the second picture, you can see the darker mountains with a fairly flat looking topline in the background. The topline of the mountains appears fairly flat but the elevation is 10,500 feet of rolling terrain and steep canyons. By the road, it's 14 steep miles from our place to the top of the mountains, where there are aspen and lodgepole pine forests.

Hi Patria!

I stop in here often, but am usually guilty of just lurking. We've had a busy summer. Lots of visitors, which has been fun. Had good friends from Tennessee spend 3 days with us last week. We hadn't seen them in 9 years, so we did a lot of catching up.
