I whined and fretted about that deer-dented fender long enough, so today being nice i decided it's time. 95 windstar, dented left front, should be easy. It wasn't. In fact i darn near took the whole car apart to get at the blasted thing! I DID manage to access all dozen fasteners, only cut one off so it'll still be pretty solid.
You can just about tell how many detroit designers are frustrated by the number of fasteners they invent. Sure you need your whole tool box - it's just that you'll find yourself using all your tools for things they weren't meant to do! Like the little clips that hold the headlight assembly in - they're built like a miniature tin elk rack with holes in the horns.
So let's see, i have a chisel to tweak the ears outward, one at a time while prying up on the bar so they don't --- sh1t! I spose napa is closed already - now i need a stubby phillips. So the thing took me all day but it's off and ready for a beating.
Burned the last of today's light replacing the tail-lite and rubbing out the scuff marks there. I bent that one, backing a trailer up.
Maybe Suzn's "nerf car" that surrounds everybody with 3 feet of nerf isn't such a bad idea after all. If they'd been flying nerf airplanes, we wouldn't have had a 9/11. And i could learn to enjoy playing bumper cars all the way home! :)
