Just thought I'd chime in and let y'all know how my flocks been.

Took a "community poo" sample to the office and Doc did a fecal float and smear for me. NO parasites or signs of coccidia! YAHOO! He said just keep doing what your doing :0) Going to try the hot peppers couple times a year just to be on the safe side. Really don't want to have to resort to any commerical wormers if possible.

The two new additions to the outside pen are settling in well now. They have been names "Chuck-Chuck" and "Christeeny" aka "Teeny". They still steer clear of the the larger chickens and rooster, but they seems to be getting along better. They will all go out into the yard now and even eat and peck around.

The seven little Dominique chicks will be three weeks old this Friday, so I'll be working on "The Chick Inn" this week to be sure that it's as tight as possible against any predators. Mostly worried about snakes. Nothing larger and get in. I plan on taking them out this weekend and placing them in a large cage covered with 1/2 hardware cloth inside "The Chick Inn" for a few weeks until they get some size on them before I just turn them loose.

As far as how many roo's and pullets I have.... WHO KNOWS!! LOL At this point I think maybe I have 5 roos and two pullets. SURE HOPE NOT, but it looks like the shadow on the leg thing may not be accurate until they are a few weeks old. I started with six with leg shadows (some only slight) and now there are only two that have definate shadows! The head dot thing maybe pretty close though. I had two without the dots...those are supposed to be pullets.

Tried the "swinging a sock over their heads" and sure enough, five looked up and two crouched down. Only time will tell! LOL

Going to try and get some pics this week/weekend and post them. I have one bitty that is already a favorite. "Penguin" She's adorable. Every time I open the cage, she somes running to me and just waits for me to put my hand out. She then flaps those cute little wings and jumps right into me hands! AWWWWW, too cute!

Thanks to everyone for all the ideas and wonderful help. I've alot to learn yet, so I'll be posting more....I'm sure! LOL
