and now have my power back on : ) Take Care Everyone! Got this in my email and liked it so thought I'd share it with ya'll : ) TEN THINGS GOD WON'T ASK on that day.
> > 1...God won't ask what kind of car you drove, He'll ask how many
people you drove who didn't have transportation.
> > 2...God won't ask the square footage of your house, He'll ask how many
people you welcomed into your home.
> > 3...God won't ask about the clothes you had in your closet, He'll ask
how many you helped to clothe.
> > 4...God won't ask what your highest salary was, He'll ask if you
compromised your character to obtain it.
> > 5...God won't ask what your job title was, He'll ask if you performed
your job to the best of our ability.
> > 6...God won't ask how many friends you had, He'll ask how many people
to whom you were a friend.
> > 7...God won't ask in what neighborhood you lived, He'll ask how you
treated your neighbors.
> > 8...God won't ask about the color of your skin, He'll ask about the
content of your character.
> > 9...God won't ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation, He'll
lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven, and not to the gates of Hell.
> > 10...God won't have to ask how many people you forwarded this to, He
already knows whether or not you are ashamed to share this information with
your friends.

Glad to hear from you! How long were you without power? We've gone through the power-outage due to hurricanes before here in the Houston area and have found that it usually happens right after we fill the freezer with meat. I think the longest we were without power was a week after a hurricane. I hope your place didn't get any damage. Am praying for all those folks who did and who lost more than property in that storm.

Maggie, we lost power here about Friday evening around 8:30-9pm and it's just now gotten turned back on tonite but there are still lots of folks who don't have it yet. I'm Thankful I could stay at my parents house and they did have power. I never keep alot of food here....unless it can be cooked in a microwave or on my George Foreman grill I have no way to cook it so I was lucky in that respect. Some of my neighbors have huge freezers and threw out all of it. I wouldn't have done that. They have a grill, I woulda cooked it up and had a block party rather than throw it all away but that's where some of us differ *shrug* My neighborhood was spared mostly, there was 2 mobile homes here in the park with severe damage. One is a sweet lil lady who lives in the front of the park and half of her roofover (double roof) was torn completely off and the other one was an empty mobile home on the back road where a tree fell and split it right in half. I'd say that's not too bad for our small park of 75 lots : ) We're kinda "down in the holler" so alot of it just blew over the top of us which helped to keep the folks safe who decided to ride it out here. There are alot of elderly folks here in the park so I'm Glad no one was hurt or suffered any more damage than that.

Clod    Posted 08-17-2004 at 20:52:51       [Reply]  [No Email]
Thanks DD..You ladies prayers fly much higher than mine.Mine wont get higher than the buzzard flys. Its good to have a worry such as the strorm but for no other reason than to get closer to God.I know I do at times like that.Good night .

DD    Posted 08-17-2004 at 21:04:00       [Reply]  [No Email]
Don't count on that Clod, God hears ALL prayers ; ) Everything Happens for a Reason and there's been some good things to come from this storm too. Folks who have lived in the same neighborhood for over 50 years are talking to and working with their neighbors and they'd never spoken before. Something Good will always come from something that is perceived as Bad everytime if you only look at it from a different angle. G'Nite to you too : )

SusieQ    Posted 08-18-2004 at 04:52:36       [Reply]  [No Email]
You know DD this brings me to my thoughts of growing up in small town, rural community, where everyone knew everyone...all went to church together, families pitched in and helped out when a death occurred, or some big event that extra hands were needed....I know the times are achanging, but not to know your closest neighbor, how odd for some of the folks in Florida.

DD    Posted 08-18-2004 at 05:55:11       [Reply]  [No Email]
SusieQ, I think it has alot to do with the high crime rate here. I think folks are afraid that if ya look at someone and make eye contact they'll take it the wrong way cuz they'll shoot ya for a dollar down here. It's very sad : (
