The fire that was near us has been contained after burning 11,000 acres. 80 homes lost and at least 30 outbuildings, not to mention cars, trucks, boats and trailers. No human lives lost, but many lost pets to the fire. Another fire started over the weekend about 30 miles west and the terain and access to it is worse. So far it has burned over 10,000 acres and at least 20 homes plus outbuildings have been lost. There are 2778 firefighters with 223 engines, 41 helicopters, 8 air tankers and 45 water tankers fighting this one, but it's only 35% contained. We had forty some fires started over the past weekend started by lightening strikes in the mountains all around us, but they have all been taken care of by the great work of all these firefighters. Sad to say but the two big ones appear to have been started by human careless actions.

This is another bad year for California Fires! They keep having big ones right after another!! We are having a bad start ourselves. We are in the peak of the season for the next 30-50 days. The Fischer Fire is our big one burning now. It is growing 2,000 acers at a time in a couple hours every afternoon. A lot of home are in it's path. That one will probley take snow fall to put out along with the 50,000 acre Pot Peak/Si Si/ Deep Harbor Fire still burning since June 40 miles from us. Not sure what is going to happen with the new 25 or so fires up near me yet resorses are working on them and today will tell when it heats up and the humidity drops around noon. Night fall helped with the big ones but they probley will blow up today. Mark H.
