*standing on soapbox*
there are a couple of events that puts a burr under my saddle...handball badminton, and ping pong...PING PONG!!??!who in the blue hell decided to let these in as official olympic sports?
I can think of several other sports that are more mentally challenging and require much more skill to master...the main one being billiards...either 9ball or straight pool...hell even billiards *one with no pockets* itself.
here's just a few others...

endurance racing on horseback
cowboy shoots
team roping
lumberjack sports....
anything but ping pong and those other areas of entertainment...and thats what i think they are...merely entertainment...basement sports...

oh and another thing...who decided to let professional athletes enter the olympics....I thought it was for the amateur athlete to compete.......???

bah!!! it just irratates me to no end to think that we as a human race can consider certain games as olympic sports...
*steps off soapbox

While I agree with you about billiards and 9ball pool I've gotta defend ping-pong. I don't play the game myself but that movie Forrest Gump wouldn't have been nearly as interesting without the ping-pong scenes in it. And that's all I've got to say about tha-at...LOL! : ) DD

Yeah I remember when the boxer was thrown off the American team years ago because he had been paid for a match once upon a time years before.

Now this Nightmare Team of pro hoopsters are and embarrassment to America.

I hope every U-bangie team from around the world beats America and does it with their team of 4ft tall, one legged goat herders for players.

Our athletic teams are either sport pros or they are on steroids but we're #1 alright.

I'm hoping for a drug free Whitehouse and a drug free olympics with real contestants$$$$$$$$$$$$$$4

Where the heck is George Foreman when America really needs him??

I really do believe that they have just gone nuts putting stupid games in the olympics. I'm really looking forward to the cowflop toss, and the the accidental egg scramble. 8 years from now when they have the beer drinkin in a hammock, and the remote controll twirlling I'm gonna be there.

Take Care

oh..and btw, Greece and PR today...on the basket court.

Got this from athens2004.com

-"ATHENS, 23 August - The United States was back to its winning ways in the Olympic Men's Basketball tournament with an easy 89-53 victory over a winless Angola in the fifth and last preliminary round game.

USA (3-2) must wait to find out its final standing in Group B, either third or fourth depending on the result between Greece and Puerto Rico later Monday. USA’s potential quarterfinal opponents from Group A include Spain, Argentina and Italy."-

I love basket too.:-)

It never made it to the olympics but one of my favorites is to go over to the truckstop and watch the fat gal toss.

Yeah what about developing some of those timeless fish-house games? We get pretty good at peen-around-back, fire-foofing, rhythmic stocking-hat whapping, cheek-rubbing for warmth and flicking boogers thru the slit in the wall. :)

Burrhead    Posted 08-23-2004 at 10:22:13       [Reply]  [No Email]
That booger flicking sounds interesting. I don't have any ice around me but I might could turn the AC down to around 50 and practice in a guard shack.

Do contestants have to be Scandahoovian or anything??

That's the spirit !    Posted 08-23-2004 at 09:51:49       [Reply]  [No Email]
