Does anybody here know of a website, or a recipe book for "pickling" in a stone crock? I have acquired a 20gal, in perfect condition and would like to experiment! Thanks for any and all responses.

My Grandma and I used to use stone crocks all the
time.. you just put your "brine" in them along
with your pickles.. whatever recipe calls for and
cover with a towel.. usually stirring so many
times/day or week... It's fun to do pickles I
think.. ! It's almost like a science experiment!

Ever heard of Google? My first try brought 144 sites for your perusal.

Thankyou, I think, and yes I Have heard of Google, and I did try them with little to no success, but I did'nt put it into the search box just like you did. Therefore, your just good, or you got lucky!

I apologize if my response seemed a bit "curt." I really didn't mean it that way. I always try to help people who are willing to help themselves (as you've obviously tried to do).

It's just that sometimes folks want to be spoon fed. That means they want someone else to do all the legwork while they sit back and wait for results. When I sense that attitude my spoon gets very small indeed.

A couple of tips: Go to the Advanced Search on Google and try that. When you get used to how it works you'll find that putting words or phrases in quotes means you want Google to find a match for those words *together and in that order*. Any other words you enter must be found too but the other word might be out of context with the words in quotes. Sometimes. Sometimes not. There are more exact ways to search Google that involve excluding certain words. For example: search for "New York" NOT state. This will search for the phrase "New York" but exclude any sites that contain the word "state."

Stick around and read a bit. You just might find you like it here. You can do the pickling later. LOL
