ok I have been reading lately on miniture cows and was wondering if anyone here on the board raises them or knows anyone that does? I would like to know just how much acreage I would need for maybe one mini milk cow, the cost and upkeep. We always had a gersey milk cow growing up so thats probably the way I would go. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Another bred is the Belted Galloway. They are smaller than Herford and if I might say, kind of cute. You can see them at:

HI Susan,
We've got Jersey calves which are a good size calf
to start little kids out on.. I have seen those
miniature cows too thanks to KellyGA:), seem
pretty expensive, but if you get any good info on

Here's a website:
I looked into them a couple of years ago. They were having a competition/show at Higginsville, MO, so I went to see them. I wasn't much impressed, but they definitely are smaller. At that time they were having trouble finding a good market for them. Guess they still are.

I have also been looking into them. Very expensive to start up breeding. Look over this page, it is the mother of all pages of the miniature cow.

If memory serves, our esteemed moderator Mz Kim has 'em. Dexters I believe was the breed.
