If you use AOL you have a built in pop-up blocker. Make sure it is turned on (at the bottom of your aol home screen)

THere is probably a lot of adware and spyware on your computer causing all those popups. I use a free utility to get them off mine. Its called Ad-ware SE v1.03 My wife was having trouble with hers and I ran it on hers and there was 1250 adware and spyware on hers. They are the cause of many IE crashes to.

Mike, I'm sorry, but I have to diagree. Spyware is a problem too and AdAware is a great tool to get rid of it, but it has nothing to do with pop-ups...

Spyware is stuff that lots of websites store on your computer to check which websites you are visiting, change the standard page of Internet Explorer and that kind of stuff.

Pop-ups are shown when you visit a website that has them programmed to show up. Most of the time these are ads.

To get rid of pop-ups: use a pop-up blocker.
To get rid of Spyware: use AdAware ( or Spybot Search&Destroy )
To get rid of viruses: Use a virus scanner
Furthermore, use a firewall.

That should keep your comp clean.

Pop-ups are really annoying, huh?
Waht I did is install the Google toolbar, which includes a pop-up blocker. It works pretty good! apart from that you can search with google without having to go to the google site.

You can get it here:

I got rid of internet explorer and now use mozilla firefox. Pop ups are a thing of the past even when I go to angelfire sites and the like.

I use Opera as my standard browser. However, every now and then I use IE ( and other browsers ) to check whether the websites I make also run in those browsers..
