why are sensible ordinary people paying way far too much for real estate these days? my wife and i have been trying a place "far from the maddening crowd" and we refuse to pay what today's real estate market is demanding. today we attended a auction in rural PA and a not too large three bedroom rancher on eight wooded acres sold for 125,000.00. a few years ago the place would have gone for maybe 75,000.

I can't see anything wrong with making money. As in buying land, and selling it at a profit. Lot more money out there (and it isn't all credit). Home ownership is up so the prices will be up also. If you couldn't buy homes on credit we would all be living in apartments or homeless. If you think credit is bad and the world will come to an end then carry the note your self and get the place back when the buyer defalts. Having said that, my place is paid for but I don't want to leave my wife with debt. That don't stop me from buying rental or resale property to make a little money. Isn't making money, getting a head, what this country was built on.

Zipcode you have to remember that we have a plastic yuppie money generation out there running parallel to the real world.

If you think like some folks think it don't matter what anything cost as long as you can get it on credit.

I agree Burr. If no one could get credit to buy things the prices would be far less than they are. If folks had to pay cash that place would probably sell for $10,000 price range. Convenience always cost and some conveniences cost alot. Credit is another convenience.

We have land cheap around here still! But like Steve said you should be dumb and not sell yours for a profet to someone who wants to pay that and take a loss! No reason to make a profet for all the taxes you have paid on the place. Mark H.
