Hello, I am located in North East Mississippi and just here to see what I can learn. I have cattle, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, dogs, and a cat named Melvin. I have lived in the country most of my life and would never change a thing. Anyone here, close to me?

I'm in northeast Alabama, just over the hill and thru the holler a ways. Welcome aboard!

Huntsville maybe! I did live in Florence for my high school years and to go to college.
Dad was in the Navy until he retired, so we lived where he was when we could.
I was a military brat born in 63.

We were in your fair state in July and now because Mrs Mudcat was driving a little too fast on one of your country roads and a Mississippi State Troopers took exception to that she is now $106.00 poorer! We did go to route 4 Liberty Miss and see the gravesite of one of your Great people!

Hi Janie,
I live on the other side of the Mason-Dixon Line, in northern Maine.
Never been in Mississippi, but would love to travel through your rural areas.
Have some fun in here. Jus' watch out for those chickens.

I have been to Maine and I must say that it is beautiful, and would love to go back.
My chickens are all up now I hope. LOL! It is dark 30 so they have gone to bed.

I went to Mississippi once but when I parked the car the Kudso vines sneeked up and wound around the axles so tight I had to hire a fella with a big D8 Cat to haul me away from them and get outa there.

Janie, I just made that one up to fool Northerners Eh. Have you ever been over to the Ruins of Windsor? We where watching Raintree County on the TV and Judy said there is Windsor, they used it for one of their shots. It's over by the river back in from Lorman in Alcorn Co.

Kinda new here myself - just like Len. Unlike Len though, I think I have been close to being thrown out a couple of time (grin). I tend to ignore political correctness at times and that, in combination with a bizarre sense of humor, is not always as funny as I might think.

I now reside in NE Missouri myself but am originally a Sunshine State resident (love them oranges in Florida).

Closest town for me is Perry although my address is Monroe City. Actually, my property is behind the dam about 1/2 mile off the Corps land (Salt River). Nice country although I am really wet from the rain last week. Glad things are drying out now.

I'm on the other end of the lake from you. Nice to hear from another Mark Twain"er".

Right now, probably most are out there tending to chores, working fields, or otherwise earning a living. So make yourself at home. I'm certain the'll be coming in soon. See ya later.

Welcome Janie! I'm in Texas but my Mother and her parents were all born in Mississippi. Mother was born and raised in Rienzi and my grandmother was from Hightown. I've heard stories about your area all my life. One day I hope to be able to travel up that way and just look it all over.

Bob honey I do know all about Kudzu vines as I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and they've got Kudzu there aplenty. Ya don't dare stand still for too long around it, and that's for sure! We did have a neighbor once who came up missing. He was the laziest human I ever saw and would just sit around and do nothing. I always suspected the Kudzu got him. ;)

We're neighbors, just across the road, Janie...least wise we might just as well be...lots of like-minded people here...just don't let anyone tell you who to associate with! Come in, set down and converse.......have a gooder, R.E.L.

Thanks you all, and I know all about being busy. My husband is in construction and is always gone so that leaves me do take care of this place. 100 head of cattle and 40 chicken, and two teenage daughters, doesn't leave me much time for much else. The dogs and rabbits are easy, and my garden drowned this year. Oh well there is always next year.
I love to can my food and have been canning chicken stew and chili for cool weather for the past few days. Jay is in NC and will be home Thrusday to work on hay.
Thanks again
