our policy has been preemptive strike. Not on 9/10/01. Ron/PA, somehow Clod couldn't communicate that to you and you haven't figured it out for yourself. You want to go back to the old way and pull dig yourself a foxhole and hope nobody comes, just hire John Fonda Kerry to lead this country and pretty soon we'll all have to become survivalists.
Except for missing this one point, Clod seems to have excellent communications skills. Not only that, he is right.

Ya know, I think ya should find out what you are really unhappy about and work on that issue before you jump into any "real man" discussions.

Ron/PA should just ignore your insults as most intelligent people will.

I understood what Hogpuller, Clod and RonPa said.
I know Clod did not say Ron supported CPUSA.
I understood Ron's original post "Don't care who you support" was not supporting CPUSA but showing who they support
and if you support Kerry you are voting along with CPUSA.
To which I posted CPUSA'a article titled
"Help defeat Bush"
"Ten Top Reasons
to Defeat George W. Bush"

1. Bush is destroying workers rights and outsourcing jobs instead of protecting the right to organize and creating new jobs rebuilding schools, bridges, roads and hospitals

2. Bush is privatizing Medicare, Social Security and public education with phony reforms instead of enacting health care for all, protecting retirement funds and full funding for public education through college.

3. Bush is bankrupting the Federal Government with giant tax cuts for the very rich and super-funds to the military instead of securing the budget for human needs by taxing the rich and spending on human needs.

4. Bush is rolling back civil rights gains instead of enforcing and expanding affirmative action to end racism in all areas of life.

5. Bush is curtailing women's rights and choice by undermining Roe v. Wade instead of upholding the right to choice and ending the gender wage gap.

6. Bush is abusing immigrant workers in low-wage jobs instead of providing a clear path to citizenship and equal rights.

7. Bush is exploiting and ruining the environment by protecting corporate polluters instead of conserving our natural resources for the public good.

8. Bush's war in Iraq is a disaster for our security and economy. He is pushing for more preemptive wars and for first strike nuclear military policy instead of negotiations and cooperation utilizing the UN. **

9. Bush is denying civil liberties and free speech in the name of fighting terrorism instead of repealing the USA Patriot Act and helping cities, towns and states fund firefighters and police.

10. Bush discriminates against Gays and Lesbians with a Constitutional Amendment instead of expanding civil rights and liberties for all.

Had enough?
Vote Nov 2
A public service of the
Communist Party, USA
235 W 23rd St, NY NY 10011

** I do not see the terrorists negotiating with anyone and the UN failed miserably in my estimation, I would just as soon evict them out of New York and let them move their head quarters to Paris.

Now you confuse me! I left this drop last night, but I guess I can wade back into it.
My point was and is, if a preemptive strike is going to be made it will have to be, or should have been made before THEY strike us. That is by definition "preemptive" I have 100% faith in our military, I was not impuning anyone or their kin.
I responded to a statement that generally said, don't worry about rumored threats, as our military practices preemptive strikes! My question is, Did a preemptive strike prevent the attacks of 9-11? I'm still guessing the answer is no.
I have no intention of pulling a hole over top of me. I also have no intention of counting 100% on the military being able to protect me. I've got to take some responsibility for my own safety and protection.
Somehow you I get the impression that you think I am blaming the government or the military for allowing 9-11 to happen, nothing could be further from the truth. I don't support Kerry, I don't blame Bush, in fact I'm a very avid Bush supporter, I think he did a great job.
Now I hope that explains my point of view, I do think however that if you are willing put all of your faith in the government giving you 100% protection, then you may already be occupying that hole you mentioned.

Just so we're all on the same page, I meant to include Websters definition of "preempt" the root word of preemptive.

"to prevent from happening or taking place :"

And I'm trying to tell you that until some time AFTER 9/11/01, preemption was NOT OUR POLICY. Capeesh? So how could it have prevented 9/11 from happening if it wasn't even our policy?

Ron/PA    Posted 09-10-2004 at 11:39:48       [Reply]  [No Email]
Puller, I think we're all talking apples and oranges. Here's the part I was responding to.
"Well,Not to worry. The US military believes in pre-emptive strike. That big word means if they threaten us we clobber them first."
My intention was to point out that the military can't prevent every possible attack that might be made on this country. That in fact it's a good thing to be aware of your surroundings, and what's going on around you. Keep in mind the shoe bomber that got aboard a commercial flight AFTER 9-11 these are the kind of things that the average Joe Citizen is going to have to take care of.
Further down in the posts, Clod even mentioned that he had in fact spent considerable time to train himself to protect himself. That's pretty much what I was advocating.
Somewhere along the line I managed to get myself labeled a Left leaning, Kerry kissing, left leaning, commie office boy. I'll never know where that all came from, and really don't care. I do know that as I sat and watched the towers burn from Rt. 3 in NJ It was the saddest day of my life. I drove back home that day in stunned silence. On that day I decided that mebbe it was time for this country to go on the defensive right down to the individual.
I really hope you aren't as P.O.'d as you sound. I've kicked around with Clod ever since he came aboard here, I don't usually get this involved in any post. The only reason I did this time, was because of all the inuendo's about me. Having had time to reflect on it, I believe it's pretty much a page out of the liberal handbook. When you can't sustain yer end of a discussion, resort to personal attacks, and name calling.
I've enjoyed this little exchange, and would love to continue it, hoever today is the last day of my vacation, and I won't have the time nor desire to continue it.
Have a great weekend.

If you are a 'Commie', where the heck does that leave me in the political spectrum???

You will note that it was not I who made any personal attacks and I called you no names. I was even willing to overlook the obvious condescension when you figured I needed to know the definition of "preemption".
BTW, my oranges are bigger than your apples.
