I read an AP article in this morning's paper that gives the lowest taxed states and the highest taxed states. #50, drum roll, please, is Tennessee. #49 is New Hampshire and Alabama at 48. Tennesseans are taxed $83.39 per $1000 earned. New York is #1 at $130.79 per $1000 earned. I tried to find a link to this article but didn't come up with anything. It's good to be last in something.

And NOT good to be first! 'Course NY's been at or near the top of this list for many years, and the people in NYC have it even rougher than us up in the boondocks.

Steve, I don't know how they figured this tax. Evidently it didn't include our 10% sales tax.

We have about the highest sales tax in the nation. This survey is including all the state and local taxes.
