Guess it's been awhile ay? For those didn't know, i went and
did it again. about a year ago i had a left-side stroke.
meantime i've gotten quite a bit of motion back and it's a good thing
cuz on aug 26, i had a right side stroke. and now it's rehab time again
and my left arm and leg are big brother. i first want to say i've
missed you all, good company is always welcome and precious.

i couldn't believe all the letters, prayers, cards, greetings
and even gifts that came. even the nurses said that's rare`- that most
people only get a couple .i told them it's different with us rock stars!
heh heh - for a guy who never had a trophy wall, a mercedes or that kinda stuff,
it's humbling to realize all the good folks out here. the old guy's
grateful to all and if there's anything i can do..........

i learned alot about strokes -even new things this time.
my stroke was the blockage kind, not the leaking kind so at least i
don't have bleeding up there. leaks cause damage right away,
this way the damages come over the next couple days. when i
first got to hospital, i could reach up with my hand, then i couldn't,
but things are firing so it might be alright, at least good enough to
go home again.even though my typing is slow, let me find a nice way
to describe a few: when something doesn't work AND gets in the way,
i tend to call it a sausage until they act like arms & legs again.

you know that little round muscle under us? the one that regulates regularity?
i'll let you in on a secret: even that little thing has different
nerves to each side , each regulated by the other side of our brain!
my brakes down in that neighborhood aren't that great right now so i'm
trying to get better control again so have to pay attention to details.
so with help i'll get seated and all proper, then it's a waiting game where
i have to keep from dozing off. (that might be embarassing-literally)
something starts happening so the left side verifies that it's solid and moving down hill.
but the dumb right side nerve just says "whatever". then when i try to
move my thumb, the other one tries to help but the bad one doesn't
pay attention anyway - i don't want to cuss or something so how do i
give my thumb the finger? stoopid sausages. :)
i guess my mind is different- the other nite a couple people came to help me
over onto my back, but they said they needed a few more bits for the thibaldeau
(some kinda crop - darn duffino) harvester that would make my turning easier.
i got tired of waiting so rung for the nurse. as i started to describe my problem,
it began to sound more silly all the time and i couldn't quite imagine a
harvester made outa pillows and covers anyway so i finally said,
"or maybe it was a dream." it sure seemed real at the moment. i'll let ya
know if i see an ETD or something useful. ::)

i'll get back when i can steal another line at's where i'm being detained.

We're praying for complete recovery, because just getting better isn't good enough! Being left handed, I am sure your left side will take over the right functions with no problem, now you will be in your right mind!!!

Welcome Back DC. Continued prayers for your further recovery.

I think this explains all the cards, gifts, well wishes you have gotten: "If you give, you will get! Your gift will return to you in full and overflowing measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over." Luke 6:38 TLB

Welcome back, and congrats on the progress. A special thanks to your son, for posting here and keeping us up to date.
You've been sorely missed. It's good to see you back in controll of the keyboard again.
Thanx again for all of your help, assistance, and tutoring over the years. I owe ya big time.
Be well my friend, continued success on yer progress. Don't get to concerned about the stated muscle controll, as some of us have a different affliction,, those muscles have been transposed with our speech functions,,,, Nuff Said.
Prayers, and thoughts are with you and yours daily.

Man it's good to see you post! This old world will get back to normal afterall, and so will you. Give it to the nazi therapists just as bad as they give it to you! Setting a goal-like the anniversary of the incident-to be recouperated helps I believe. Behave-do as yer told-AND GET BETTER!

Hey Deadcarp! SO glad to hear you are already doing better. How long are ya in for? Any release date set for good behavior? :) You keep your chin up, and do your rehab, we are all pulling for you to have a quick recovery. I know you want to get back in the comfort of your own home, and your own bed. Can't be all bad being waited on hand and foot though. Take care, see ya back here real soon. :)

YeeeeHaaawww! I knew you would sneak into the nurses station and use the computer just as soon as they wuzn't lookin!!

Oh we have missed you around here! I just know you will get everything back working like you want it in time because that kinda thing takes determination and I'm pretty sure you've got plenty of that!

As for therapy on that thumb, ya just gotta practice on pinchin the nurses and that'll fix it in no time. It will at least get you released. ;)
