What happened to Burr?

Well I came by the board for my monthly visit and I see 'ol Burrhead either got 'burred up and left, got his 'puter repo'ed, or is ill cause he aint posting. I hope he isn't ill. I don't see eye to eye with Burr but I don't wish illness or harm to him either. Now if he got his 'puter repo'ed that would tickle my funny bone to no end. Anyway, I come here now and then to be entertained by his rants and see ya'll got a big contro-versy going on with DJ and his/her posts. Didn't read back too far so I don't have any comment on that situation except for this. Some of you people are posting about banning DJ Ďcause you donít agree with him/her, or you think maybe him/her is just a stirren the poop to see if it stinks. You might want to think again about posts like that as just Ďcause DJ aint a long-timer here donít give him/her any less right to be controversial than you long timers. I see down the page a little that one of them old-timers Ol Cuss, wants to get a band wagon started to run DJ off of here. I see Ol Cussís posts all over Kimís sites. I agree with him more then Burr, but heís got one of them there attitudes that reads like; ďI been here a while so I can say what I want to say, when I want to, how want to and I donít care who it POísĒ just like Burr. Now thatís fine ol buddy, your entertainment too but donít ya think yer being a little hypocritical by stating DJ ought to be throwed out for being strong minded too? Thatís all folks, I sure miss Burrhead, is he coming back?

Very Well said. I enjoy lurking here. And for the most part have a respect for the kindness and intelligence of the regulars. But it does bother me when the same folks who would probably do anything they had to do to defend the freedom this country represents start talking about banning someone over differance of opinion. On my computer I have to grab the mouse, move it to the right spot and click to open the post. Hard to do all that by accident. With all due respect to Kim I also wonder about the value of deleting the "offensive" threads. I understand that there is another forum for this type of thing but it's here, there were some interesting points of view and links, now it's gone.
Sorry to bother you.
Hope you all have a good season.

Your point about choosing to read or not read the posts is well taken.

However, there is a very simple concept at work here that seems to elude an awful lot of people: This is Kim's forum, and she gets to decide what's appropriate. We have the choice of playing by her rules or going elsewhere.

I have absolutely no problem with that.

If you want to avoid all "censorship" and be allowed to post without any restrictions whatsoever, pony up the cash and create your own website.

Otherwise, get over it.

JMHO, of course...

Geeze
I took a look at my above post and I'll be darned if I can see where I suggested I wished to "avoid all censorship" or "be allowed to post without any restrictions whatsoever". Nothing posted during yesterdays bruhaha struck me as vulgar or profane. Some opinions were floated about that offended, in a sense, my sensabilities and it is that sort of thing that I need "get over" to parapharase you. As far as this is Kim's website etc... Ayup, hard to argue with that. If my momma ever heard me tell anyone this is my yard and we're going to do everything my way... well I probably wouldn't of had a lot of fun watching the goings on from my bedroom window with my sorry butt just a smartin'.

And, of course this is JMHO

I inferred from your statement"With all due respect to Kim I also wonder about the value of deleting the "offensive" threads" that you felt it was censorship. My apologies if I overstated the case.

"If my momma ever heard me tell anyone this is my yard and we're going to do everything my way... well I probably wouldn't of had a lot of fun watching the goings on from my bedroom window with my sorry butt just a smartin'." I don't think the situations are parallel. Personally, if it's my yard, and I'm paying the taxes on it, we ARE going to do things my way, but that's just me.

'Nuff said, it doesn't matter anyway, and I sure don't want to start another urinating contest.

"'Nuff said, it doesn't matter anyway, and I sure don't want to start another urinating contest"

Well I sure agree with you on that one.
Have a good weekend.
Looks like it's going to be a nice one on the other coast of New England.

Sure hope so. They've been promising me sunshine and 80's since last Friday. Ain't even seen the sun, much less 80's. Foggy and chilly at the moment, maybe tomorrow will be better...

Agree F14, but want to argue one point. Kim isn't even proposing censorship. She just said to take it to the right forum, still on her website.

Even have something to add to the great message in the original post on this thread: This is a forum for pete's sake. Opinions are what it is all about. If someone doesn't like the opinion, click it shut and move on. Why people want to ban someone is beyond me (even though I am the only one that is consistently right around here.)

I'm have not doubt that you are consistenty the only who is right around here!! lol BUT even you have to admit (I hope) that there is a difference between an open friendly exchange of opinions and a barn yard brawl? Goes to presentation and attitude.

Anyway, I am relatively new here and keep hearing the name "Burrhead and Hank" but haven't seen their posts so I was wondering too who these people are and WHERE they are. Could you please tell me?

MikeH-Tx    Posted 04-18-2002 at 15:22:08       [Reply]  [No Email]
Both are frequent visitors to this board and several others (except recently, obviously). Burrhead and IHank. Neither are short of opinions and both have a very clear preference for things done in conservative "country traditional" way.

Fun to have around, if you can tolerate differing opinions from others. Easy for me. Since I am right so much I have to be tolerant of others.
:-)

Burr and conservative in the same sentence? Now THAT'S funny!

MikeH-Tx    Posted 04-18-2002 at 17:18:08       [Reply]  [No Email]
Reactionary is it? When the left gets too far left and the right get too far right, they kinda meet. Must be a circle thing.

Augie    Posted 04-19-2002 at 05:36:00       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Now I know where "circle flies" come from...

Sammie - LOL    Posted 04-18-2002 at 15:45:01       [Reply]  [No Email]
Ya, I can be tolerant too, even though, like you, I'm ALWAYS right!! lol As long as others have as much respect for my differing opinion as I do of theirs. Tend to be alittle conservative myself.

Can't wait to meet them both, should be interesting.

That's why I put "censorship" in quotes.
