I finally got the tunnel/chute! That was the last thing I was adding to the course.

I set up everything, and Tip and I went outside to see how she is going to do. We have been practicing with everything but the chute, which is going to be last anyway. I have guides on the weave poles, and hopefully after a thousand times she will do the weaving without the guides.

So....Here is how it goes...

WEAVE! WEAVE! WEAVE! WEAVE! JUMP! TUNNEL! GO GO GO GO! JUMP! HERE! DOWN! 1-2-3-4-5 JUMP TIRE! PUSH IT!!!!!!!!! GO GO GO!

YAY!!!!!!! GOOD DOG!!!! GOOD JOB!!!! (throw two frisbees for her to catch)

APPLAUSE AND MUCH WHOOPING AND HOLLERING!!!!!

:)

Practice practice practice....14 days til the fair...I got knots in my stomach...butterflies in my throat, and sweaty palms, man, its hard to trust another to make you look good...especially when they don't even speak the language, much less they aren't even the same species as you!

So...I think she does pretty good. She ran that course like she had been doing it for a while. Shoot, we haven't even practiced since last summer til about a month and a half or so ago...so, she has a good memory, and we are gonna play hard and look good! :) If I keep saying it, it will come true, right? ;)

Kelly,
I'm no expert, so take what I say with the salt shaker handy. It would seem to me that practice in your yard will get the dog used to working where there is just you. Would it make sense to invite some friends to watch her practice so she gets used to people being around when she is going through her routine?
Maybe they could bring their dogs so she gets used to others being there also.
If that is going to create some sort of turf problem, can you pack stuff up and take it to a park where turf is neutral?
Just some thoughts that might get you an edge in the competition.
Chas, pulling for you and Tip, up here in Maine.

Hey Chas,

Well, the people that are watching are behind livestock fencing, big aluminum fencing, because after my show, Dewey does his herding demo.

Thanks for the advice, she will be okay. We did this once before, and she was okay. :)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you and Tip. I know all the hard work by both of you will pay off : )

Thanks DD, its just a show for the people of the fair, not a competition, but its a lot of fun if it all goes as planned. :)

Kelly you may have knots in your stomach but I'm sure Tip doesn't. She'll do just great I'm sure. And when it's over you'll thank yourself you spent all that time and trouble with the practice because I'm sure you'll be proud of the results.

And if you don't post pics of this great event I'm gonna' haunt you till your dying days! LOL

I just remember the shock year before last at all the people that showed up for the shows. Dewey said he had never had that many folks watch his demonstration, til i came along. I never looked up, I was afraid I would faint! I just concentrated on doing our thing!

I will take pictures, or have some one take pictures, or something! I am also taking a video camera and try to get it on film!
