Hi toolman. Say dose them canadian thistle grow there. The country around here is getting infested bad. I saw in a dictionary where they were the national flower of scotland. I guess it is all the same thistle. I spray them and dig them up. Put salt in the hole where i dig to kill the tap root Have a good evening. Archie in southwest Missouri.

yup we got them around here archie, i call them american thistle though and when i get really mad at them i calls them quebec thistle lol. no really we have them sure , poision works good if your into that , i been mowing the field where they are and the trick seems to be to get them before they go to seed and the more you mow them the better you can starve the root systems, but it takes a few years , i have mine pretty much undercontrol now but when the wind blows they come in from the neighbours, i don,t think you,ll ever really rid yourself of them without using round-up or something, good luck with them.

Best way to kill them is to mow just before it rains, or during....getting the rain into the exposed, cut, root seems to do the job better and cheaper than anything else. have a gooder, R.E.L.
