The little calf is 7 days old today and all the colostom is gone so we starting keeping the milk this morning...When her bag was so swoll thought it mioght turn into mastitis so vet had us put med in teats for 3 days...last day was past Sunday...directions said to wait 60 hours before consuming milk...been way over 60 hours...But milk still tastes strange...reckon it is the meds??? How long reckon we should wait before we try catching the milk again to drink??? Thanks...Kat

Have to say mojo's advice right on.
Not knowing medication, label to read, after effects, consult your vet. Some medications require 30 days quarantine from human consumption.

To have checked for mastitis, itís usually done by first stripping some milk onto the bottom of a clean pail. (in a milking dairy farm pollar the milk is squirted upon the floor) where and when it is examined for what looks like flakes or curdled chunks? Otherwise milk should look smooth, semi-clear, much the same in appearance as comes out of the grocerís dairy case.
