My cat got into a bucket that had some tar in it this morning. It's on his paws and around his mouth. Does anyone have a SAFE way of removing it.

mayonnaise will take tar off your car. you have to let it sit for a bit though. good shop hand cleaner should work fine if you have any.

WD40 will dissolve it but cat won't appeciate it.
Peanut butter(peanut oil)will breakdown some tars and asphalts(like on vinyl floors/shoe,without damage).Gasoline of paint thinner on a rag will cut it too.

Try PAM that spray on grease. Spray it on and then rub it in. That should get under the tar and make it turn loose. I would be afraid to use soap around the cats mouth or on its paws because it may injest the soap and that aint good for man nor beast.

Doesn't Dawn dishsoap advertise that they use it on birds that get stuck in oil spills?
