Sunflower question (probably a dumb one)

if i leave my sunflowers standing all winter will the birds be able to eat the seeds?

only problem with left standing they will drop quite a few on ground and they will grow next year I have some in garden that are on forth year but are starting to run out as in in oats.

Steve, I am surprised you still have seeds. My sunflowers (mostly decoration) have been all but picked clean already. I lose at least half the seeds before mid-summer. The birds around my area really seem to like the green sunflower seeds. Nice and soft I guess. I tried them before and they taste the same - just soft.

I think the birds will do just fine getting to the standing plants.

i looked at the plants on sunday and the seeds have barely been touched.
