Howdy toolman, that's one show I make a point to watch. I still think the "Grey Cup" episode was a classic. Should be on here in 10 mins. 8 our time. How far are you from Mt.Helen. I got some ash in a container from the '80s in the garage from the old girl. Dan in AB

In 1980 I drove into Morton with a VW that I moved the Air Filter inside the car to keep the ash out of the engine. I shoveld up over 150 lbs of it to sell at the swap meets. I made over 100.00 in Tacoma on a Saturday selling bottles with a lable on them dating the event. I loaded up the VW and went to California hopping to get rich and could not sell any?? They were telling me they could drive up there and get there own for free why should they pay for it???? Boy I got mad and said if it was a pet rock you would buy it something you could pick up anywhere but a peice of history was different! I think they were jelouse they did not have a Volcano and Washington was in the news not them. Mark H.

i just watched it here , on the dish, time shifting , im aways from st helens but as the crow flys probably not all that far, we got a good dusting here in 1980, i still have some in bottles around somewheres too, hey it might be worth money now with all the volcano craze picking up again lol.if it does blow i hope it waits until we got some snow, terribble on the pastures last time and hard on the livestock, i don,t think it did horses or most other animals much good digesting it,did you get another peice of furniture to finish or something, i recall catching the tail end of something the other night and was figuring it was the one you just finished , then i was thinking later i,ll bet your doin another one after that first one turned out so nice.

I don't think the ash is good for livestock, I wonder if there is any upside to it as far as the soil goes. They seem to think she won't be as bad this time. Speaking of furniture I redid another china cabinet, tried to post a photo but KL photos is not working. When the gallery starts working I will re-post the before and after photos. Will alert you. Have chance to pick up a good looking rolltop desk, always wanted one. People are retiring to a holiday trailer in BC for the summer and a cabin in SK for the winter. No need for a rolltop I guess.Dan
