i always trusted math more than people cuz it's constant. 2 + 2 = 4 just like it did when you went to school and it's not affected by rain, whim or money. (warning - really dumb number joke :::::::::;) do you know why 6 is afraid of 7? cuz 7 8 9! :)

Ha! When I decided to start college at the tender age of 41 I had to take an algebra exam and failed. That put me in a remedial algebra class on Tuesday nights so I would be allowed to take chemistry the rest of the week. Ugh. After about 3 weeks in the class, I was still lost. The material looked vaguely familiar, but that's all. I had taken algebra and geometry in high school and I kept thinking it couldn't have changed that much! Well, 3 weeks into the class the instructor was writing on the board and happened to turn around and said over her shoulder, "Oh, for those of you . . . um, non-traditional . . . um, students . . . you've never had this before. This is new math." Well, damn! I studied hard and 3 weeks later took the algebra exam again and passed - barely - but I passed. I was so mad about that new math thing that I think I WILLED myself to learn the material. I promptly dropped the algebra class. They tried to tell me I needed to stay in the algebra class, but I told them I was earning 23 credits that semester & I didn't need any more classes than I HAD to take! New math my - ok, I'll shut up now. See, I'm still mad over it.

when i worked in australia my buddy tony had been going to school when their educators changed over to metric. so he'd already learned inches, now they assured him everything would be centimeters. then he got a job at hawker dehavilland, well we worked on boeing stuff and f18s, all of which were drawn in inches again. :)

1 + 1 = 10 in the binary number system.
5 + 5 = A in the hexadecimal number system and A + 6 = 10.

Ever wonder why the base 10 system has 10 different characters? Cause we have 10 fingers! Sure glad they didn't adopt a base 20 system cause I'm to old to bend over and count my toes!

Maybe you should trust people more!
