Zenia It's great!    Posted 10-16-2004 at 16:20:55       [Reply]  [No Email]
I joined Freecycle, and gave away a bunch of stuff. Toys, rubber raft, good wooden ladder, planter box, very good car seats (Britax that were $200.00 new, I gave to a 19 y.o. mother of a baby & a toddler). It saved me a trip to Salvation Army.

I picked up a bunch of wooden animal shipping carriers from the Sacramento Zoo that were listed on freecycle. One was for a polar bear cub, another for a porcupine. They are super sturdy, perfect for housing my chickens & rabbits (they can go in there when it rains, and I can put their food inside). My sister got a very nice oak desk for free.

The downside is the freeloaders who post what they want - everything from cars to cameras, and with a sad story to match. Another downside is if you get the emails, it will clog up your email. I chose to go to the website, but good items are claimed in minutes. Another downside is people are quick to hit the reply button and claim good items, but then are no-shows to pick the item up and the giver has to re-post it.

Howdy Bob, just heard about it here a day or two ago. Checked it out last nite, think I might join up, there appear to be chapters everywhere. Dan in AB

Never heard of it. Is it trading?

It is strictly NOT for trading. For trading, try Craigslist. It is for offering up items for free that you no longer want/ need.
