MH30 Standard, Cultivation and Compaction?

New at this.

I plan to do some row vegetable growing this
summer and would like some do's and dont's opinions for cultivation. I plan to make my own adjustable drag type cultivator with the spade points.

Since I don't have the Row Cropper model 30
with ajustable tire spacing, I plan to make my rows far enough apart to pass my wheels thru, which are around 52in apart, but I'm worried about compaction problems. Since I can squeeze in 2 row sizes or so with this tire spacing, that means every row will have the tire pass over it 2 times. My front wheels are the same spacing as the rear.

Should I cultivate only a set number of times per season? What should the distance be from outside of tire to the plant to prevent root disturbance?

Tractor type doesn't really matter I guess, as it would apply to other makes of non-row cropper as well.

Thanks.
