No flu shot

Well I guess I will not get a flu shot this year.
The doctor's office I got one from last year called yesterday and left a message on my answering machine that the flu shots were in.
So I went over there today and was told I was not eligible because I had not seen the doctor for any illness during the year!
Guess being healthy is not always a good thing.

The other doctor I have seen occassionally expects me to pay for a doctor visit in order to get a flu shot! Somehow that seems unethical to me. Does that sound right to you?

Don't worry too much about the flu shot, Lenore. Flu viruses mutate so quickly that the shots are not effective very long anyway,

Besides, if you're into 60's music like The Lovin' Spoonful, you're way too young to have to worry too much!!!

If a plumber comes to your house you pay trip fees.
The Doctor has to obey laws requiring a Doctor to see a paitent before administering any medications or pescriptions. That requires an office visit. hence the costs.

Hi Lenore, sounds to me that you are generaly a healthy lass, and probably would fare well without the flu shot.
I tried the shot a few years ago, and it was the worst season for minor illnesses for me. Coincidence???? Maybe, but I have enjoyed good health every flu season since then without the "magical elixir"." Knockin' on wood" here." Just can't feel comfortable with those antibodies being injected in me. 'Course ya' know, positive attitude counts for a lot. "Do you believe in magic?" Huuummmmmnn!,I think I remember a song of that title.

I am a very healthy "lass", I dont think I have needed the services of a doctor in probably nine or ten years. I think that bothers those doctors. That last time was due to a minor infection that needed a prescription to fight it. Since my daughter goes to Mexico now and gets her meds, I get some antibiotics and use them only if and when needed, I think the last bottle is a year old and still unopened.
I am one of those positive thinkers, who pray and believe I will be just fine. Take my vitamens, soy and health suppliments and expect to live well.

I do remember the song. LOL

Lenore,
God Bless you,and continued good health.
Thank you very much for the tune. And for indulging me even with my not so subtle hints.

Yesterday I saw a doctor on TV talking about this whole flu shot thing that's going on. He was the head honcho at some big hosptial and seemed to know what he was talking about. Anyway, he said the companies that make the stuff have to make it different each year depending on the strain of flu they "think" will be hitting and 50% of the time they guess wrong! Doesn't seem to me like it's very good odds. I got a flu shot years ago and had one of the worst bouts of flu ever. Think I'll skip this year too.

No that doesn't sound right to pay for a Dr visit for a flu shot.

This year will be an exception but I can get a flu shot at pretty much any large grocery store in St Louis for $15-$20. No need to even see a doctor. I work in St Louis so I can get away with this but the small town nearest to where I live does not do that. Heck the largest grocery store is a tiny little IGA. Nice folks but small store. They also set up flu shot stations in the St Louis malls ... this year still being the exception.

get clod to run you up for a quick visit in his dodge van, hmm, on second thought, maybe you best find the chevell instead, and well give ya one think you have to pay 20 bucks for it though cause you speak funny , your know not canadian.lol sorry thats a bummer especially with you helping that elderly lady, either one of you could get the flu and it wouldn,t be good for either.

I missed this.I was afraid to open this and catch the flu. Yes we will jump i our ole 57 and run up to Canada and fix the Sun so it comes up and goes down like the clock says it is saposed to. I laughed when Bob told me it stays daylight untill 11 at night in summers. I bet they do not sleep good up there.

I know, toolman, that was my primary thought.
If I get the flu I guess she would have to go to a nursing home.
I am not sure how I will handle it.
The nurse from hospice is going to visit tomorrow.
I will ask her if she has any ideas that might help.

I think I would take that little chevelle if I go up your way. I'll let Clod ride along in case I need a good mechanic. The heat index here today is 103. I will put the top up if we go your way I think it is slightly colder there. LOL
