Since Bush took office (political)

I am a senior citizen.

During the Clinton Administration I had an extremely good and well paying job.

I took numerous vacations and had several vacation homes.

Since President Bush took office, I have watched my entire life change for the worse.

I lost my job.

I lost my two sons in that terrible Iraqi War.

I lost my homes.

I lost my health insurance.

As a matter of fact I lost virtually everything and became homeless.

Adding insult to injury, when the authorities found me living like an animal, instead of helping me, they arrested me.

I will do anything that Senator Kerry wants to insure that a Democrat is back in the White House come next year.

Bush has to go.

Sincerely,

Saddam Hussein

"SH" lost two sons; america has lost over 1000 sons and daughters and still counting.

Steve, it's not a coincidence that the military people are about 75% in favor of Bush's reelection.
Sort of reminds me of 1864. You can look it up. It's in the book.

given their conservative nature military people always support whatever type of action our leaders in gov't pursue.

not true at all    Posted 10-20-2004 at 08:13:24       [Reply]  [No Email]
during previous administrations, I know of many military folks who believed we were doing some truly stupid things.

Believe it or not, Steve, many military folks are well educated, and for obvious reasons stay more current than the average American on non-military topics like international relations and law.

So please don't make such insulting generalizations, implying we're some non-thinking monolithic group of lunkheads.

I didn't get the impression that he was saying they're stupid, just that they're conservative. If my assumption is correct, then he's right. There was a recent study that showed that something like 60% of enlisted and 80% of officers were republicans or some such thing. I heard it on the radio a few days ago. That makes them conservatives.

did not mean to imply anything of the sort. i spent five years in the army and know of what you speak. but, in general most (i should have said) military folks are conservative in their politics.

And thats not counting    Posted 10-20-2004 at 04:39:02       [Reply]  [Send Email]
The 3000, son, daughters, mothers, fathers, grandmas, grampas, husbands, wives, in the towers.

Of course Iraq didn't actually blow up the WTC towers - those terrorists were from SAUDI ARABIA. But as I said before - we're pissed, let's go blow sh*t up, Iraq is as good as any place. Right?

What a tragedy and a travesty. Over a thousand US troops dead, about thirteen thousand (by conservative estimate) Iraquis dead. And for what exactly? WMDs? Regime Change? War on Terror?

The war on terror was supposed to be Afghanistan. I guess that's why for the 10k troops in Afganistan and 100k in Iraq.

Yup; makes sense to me.

Wouldn't want to rain on any parades but war on terror was on terrorists and those that harbor and assist them. That means it is more then Afganstan.

yep    Posted 10-20-2004 at 08:04:16       [Reply]  [No Email]
For all of those things--WMD (which most governments in the world and the U.N. all believed Sadam had), regime change, war on terror, and you can probably throw "oil" in there too, while we're discussing reasons. Like it or not, all of those things are in the strategic interest of the U.S. and all of its citizens.

Sept 11 should have changed the way we act...we ignored all previous terrorist warnings and attacks, and they just continued to get worse. What was coming after Sept 11? Think that was the end?

Most wars have many fronts, Afghanistan is just one of the fronts on this war on terror...NY City and Washington D.C. were fronts too, thanks to the terrorists and our lack of prior action against them.

Neither life nor war is black and white, there are few clear answers to the mess the world is in. But the U.S. has taken enough cheap shots for too long, it is time to fight to win once for all.

no one has yet been able to link "SH" to 9/11.

Aw Steve,    Posted 10-20-2004 at 06:37:43       [Reply]  [No Email]
No one has been able to prove otherwise either....gfp

Paula    Posted 10-20-2004 at 07:41:17       [Reply]  [Send Email]
Well using that criteria why not go blow up Iran, Syria, Lebanon, or Pakistan? I mean they have WMDs, they don't have democracy, they MIGHT have had something to do with WTC 9/11 - I mean it hasn't be proved that they DIDN'T.

Sigh

Next will be eastern Syria, then tossup if northern Iran or Lebanon. Pakistan is cooperative now, safe for a long time. Look for a Kurdish republic to be formed from parts of Iraq, Syria, Iran- or at least the threat to be broadcast to get some cooperation. RN.

bet you wish you didn't live here in the middle of all these war mongers. Think the UN has the answer? Sure as hell the europeans don't. They are the first to burn their weapons of war. What did it get them?

Terrorists are terrorists, they think alike and feed off each other's victories.

Regarding your other point, most military folks I know (I know many; I'm retired Army, and stay very connected with old friends and family who are still in uniform) understand the need and fully support our work in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Nobody wants to die or be injured, but many of us (most?) believe that "freedom isn't free." A sad fact of history is that our current freedom is built on the blood of those who served before us.

for some reason i give saddam a jewish accent: at the start of the war i imagined him peeking around a bomb-tattered palm tree, saying "vutt did i do now?"

now i imagine bush stopping by his cell to gloat, and saddam sez "i told you they're not as obedient as texas republicans!" :)
