Old Crocks

Have an old pickle crock that appears to be uncracked, but when I started to make pickles in it, it started to develop salt crystals along the outside. I wipe them away, and a few hours later they're back. I can only guess that there are tiny cracks in the glazing.

Anybody know if this will affect pickle quality? Seems like a lot of salt getting lost.

Anybody know if there's a way to seal the crock for the next batch?

thanks all!

If they're that small I'd try Beeswax to seal the outside. That way if it doesn't work it is reversable. HTH
